Introduction

Mario is the main protagonist of his titular series, and serves as the default character of this game.

He's a capable, yet rather unimpressive jack-of-all-trades, as his supposedly balanced attributes leaves him to be somewhat lacking in effective strengths when compared to both light and heavyweights.

Overview

Mario serves as the standard middleweight of the game, with below average stats overall.
Strengths Weaknesses
  • Serviceable Weight: Mario is heavy enough to damage half of the cast from collision alone (though this can mostly be applied to Battle Mode), and effectively has the best non-heavyweight bulk.
  • Balanced Handling: While he cannot turn as sharp as a lightweight, Mario still benefits however from having a balanced style of steering that makes him easier to pick up for newcomers.
  • Bad Acceleration: Performing a Triple Tap will cause Mario to take a longer time to regain max speed despite having superficially better capabilities in those regards than both Wario and Donkey Kong, and that is easily explained by the fact that his abysmal base acceleration leaves him to seriously bite the dust if he happens to take an item in the face.
  • Lower Base Speed: Since his speed is virtually the same as the other heavies and middleweights, Mario will lose a bit of time over lightweights, which makes him unviable for Time Trials.

Movelist

Accelerate ● Average top speed. Lower than the lightweights.
● Average off-road. Remains slower than lightweights, but remains somewhat faster than heavyweights.
● Worst base acceleration in the game by far. Equal to Luigi.
A
Triple Tap A ● Superficially faster than both Wario and Donkey Kong within its first 160 frames.
● Effectively slower to regain max speed than other variants of the technique, due in part to Mario's weaker base acceleration.
AAA
Spin-Turn Mode ● Unlike lightweights and heavies, its attributes are unmodified.
● Gives decent swerving without making the user too uncontrollable.
[AB]
Steer ● Decent turn angle, as it is only marginally lower than lightweights.
● Speed retention while steering is unmodified and perfectly average.
4-6 / 🢀🢂
Drift ● Average drift speed. Lower than the lightweights.
● Otherwise equalised in core attributes, like the rest of the cast.
