Introduction

The Banana Bunch is a rare frontrunning defensive item that serves as the multiplied counterpart of the Banana Peel.

A surprisingly capable item thanks to its extensive potential for back coverage and terrain trapping, it still suffers from weak damage much like its individual version, but nonetheless, its sheer number of traps that outclasses its spiritual successor in the Triple Banana, paired with its difficulty to be dodged when spammed from behind makes the Banana Bunch a surprisingly resourceful item to wield when taking a lead.

Overview

Strengths Weaknesses
  • Anti-Shell: Reds and Greens of all kinds can be completely nullified with properly spaced drops, which makes it invaluable defence when under risk of getting decked by a flurry of spam coming your way.
  • Back Chain: Since the item trails at a relatively long distance from the user's back, this item not only does make for good backward protection, but also makes for a potent barricade that demands respect from players lagging behind.
  • Good Trapping: It may have weaker damage like its singular counterpart, but having five readily available bananas to lock down parts of the track can make for a surprisingly consistent item to hit opponents with.
  • Bad Damage: Bananas only causes the target to potentially lose control, which can be either heavily mitigated by a good Triple Tap, or totally negated by braking instead.
  • Timing Reliance: Directly hitting the chain produced by the Banana Bunch will cause it to break it apart, which forces the user to make proper use of their ability to drop peels on the road to get full leverage out of this item's defensive potential.
  • Rare Pool: No matter the gamemode, this item only has a chance out of twenty to be pulled, and usually from frontrunning positions, which means you shouldn't expect to have it, even if you somehow need it.

Movelist

Banana Drop ● Idle obstacle that can be dropped behind to trap tight lines and item boxes alike.
● Can be timed against enemy projectiles to give better defensive leverage off the Banana Bunch, as dropped bananas aren't part of the held chain anymore.
● On their own, dropped bananas will remain a weaker threat than a Fake Item Box.
Z (When Active)
Banana Deploy ● Surprisingly powerful safety option since it doesn't just protects the user from the back, but also creates a disjointed line of defence that other players have to respect.
● Thrown items that hit from either the front or the sides may circumvent its protection however. This includes properly spaced Red Shells.
● If a shell or player directly hits the held Banana Bunch, it will automatically be broken apart in a cluster that will become unpredictable to dodge.
Z (When Stored)
Banana Trickhot ● Incredibly unreliable frontal throw due to its arched angle and awkward reach.
● Can be made somewhat more reliable by spamming multiple bananas in front of the player, though this is still mostly ill-advised.
8Z / 🢁Z (When Active)
