The Banana (alternatively known as the "Banana Peel") is a frontrunning defensive item that is mostly used for protection and trapping.
It is generally one of the weaker, if not the weakest item in the game due to its lacking offensive potential while being a somewhat lacklustre trap due to the ease at which a potential target can mitigate its effects by either slowing down or performing a simple Triple Tap.

Strengths
Weaknesses
Frontrunning Pool: This item has around a chance out of three to be pulled out while in 1st Place, which means you can expect it to be in your hand in a very tolerable amount of boxes.
Back Protection: It reliably covers the user's back, which makes it handy if an opponent is attempting to close the gap.
Okay Trapping: In spite of its weaker damage, Bananas can be used to force players into awkward positions when placed in tight corners, sharp turn or within item boxes.
Bad Damage: Bananas only causes the target to potentially lose control, which can be either heavily mitigated by a good Triple Tap, or totally negated by braking instead.
Single Protection: Even if the user pulls out two separate Greens (one held, one stored), an opponent may only need to pull Triple Reds to potentially break someone's defence and damage them.

● Idle obstacle that can be dropped behind to trap tight lines and item boxes alike. ● Weaker threat due to the ease at which one can mitigate its effects. ● Basically a worse Fake Item Box.

● Decent safety option since it protects the user from the back. ● Thrown items that hit from either the front or the sides may circumvent its protection however. This includes properly spaced Red Shells.

● Incredibly unreliable frontal throw due to its arched angle and awkward reach. ● In essence, it's only a style option.
